Well, let’s cut to the chase. I’m now having creativity blocks. Pretty much the same with writer’s block. If you do happen got Darth Vader action figure and Camel and GoF on your desk, geek block may be a correct phrase symbol to you (ps. I wear jeans too). Your mileage may vary, but I assume you get my point.
In normal situation (okay ‘normal’ is subjective) I have these hand picked, time-tested, quality-assurance selected methods to break the blocks. Funny, they don’t work anymore for me.
1. Writing copy of codes, old ones or new ones. Copying code, I mean actually typing it not just humble CTRL-C CTRL-V, is kinda like dragging’ our ‘creative brain’ inertia with ‘mechanic brain’. Typing without thinking, eventually, will start ‘creative brain’ to run.
2. Learning other subjects that is completely different with our task at hand. Useful when we got bored with current project(s).
3. Blogging. Reading as you are now.
4. Music. As FL Studio and guitar.
5. Vacation. I did. Surf’s Up was cool. Mr. Brooks was chilling. The Messenger was shocking. Alone was frightening. Can’t wait for Bourne Ultimatum.
Beside these fives, any more ideas how to break your creativity blocks? I’m listening.
