I saw how Uma worship Meryl ever since her early career at Oprah last Sunday, from my hotel room. Meryl is a hero for Uma. And for the very first time, at Oprah, they’re both met not because of their professional job.

How Uma knows Meryl is basically same for us how we admire a movie star. We quote his/her dialogs, remember some memorable acts, and maybe put certain movie stars as our role models.

We know our favorite movie stars, but actually we don’t know who he/she is.

Like Meryl to Uma, that is.

Now imagine that you can actually meet your heroes. And it’s not just see them walking in red carpet while we wave our hands to them, hopelessly.

yin yang

We know what it is.
It is fatale to Superman. But it is also his source of power. Whether because Superman is actually a Kryptonian(1), Krypton’s gravity relative on Earth’s(2), or because any Kryptonian can posses a Godlike power when he/she walks under the yellow sun(3).

The bottom line is, Kryptonite is his source of power and also his cause of pain.

Although we’re not living in Smallville, we do suffer from our own Kryptonite. The strongest manifestation of this is our greatest traits/weakness.

Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: But it ain’t all buttons and charts, little albatross. You know what the first rule of flyin’ is? Well I suppose you do, since you already know what I’m about to say.
River Tam: I do. But I like to hear you say it.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Love. You can know all the math in the ‘Verse, but take a boat in the air you don’t love, she’ll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds.
Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells ya she’s hurtin’ ‘fore she keens. Makes her home.

It isn’t just about the buttons and panels to fly a spaceship sometime.

Once, my officemate (female officemate, this kind of species constantly annoy male smokers for sure) stick a copy of a Men’s Heath’s article titled: “Just Keep Smoking before Dysfunctional Erection”.

To hell with dysfunctional erection. We keep smoking for sure.

Several months later, someone brought a poster about anatomy of a cigarette filter.

The architecture of a cigarette is so simple yet effective. A layer on top another layer is carefully engineered to make us soooo addicted to it. How the entire cigarette run amuses us.

We knew tar and nicotine is fatal to our lung, but hell with lungs. Smoking is kewl!

Everyone has their own style.
In writing, leadership, parenting, architecting vendetta revolution, or playing a killer guitar melody. Each one of us has different style.

I have five programmers here. Though we share common “coding style guidelines”, I can tell whose person behind any particular code.
We share common OOP knowledge, but anyone can come up with different code.

I love blogging because it’s simple. I don’t have to write in pyramid strategy just like they’ve told me in “traditional” journalism. My primary concern is moving an idea from one head into another. But hey, this is my take. Your style may vary.
