Sincere

I saw how Uma worship Meryl ever since her early career at Oprah last Sunday, from my hotel room. Meryl is a hero for Uma. And for the very first time, at Oprah, they’re both met not because of their professional job.

How Uma knows Meryl is basically same for us how we admire a movie star. We quote his/her dialogs, remember some memorable acts, and maybe put certain movie stars as our role models.

We know our favorite movie stars, but actually we don’t know who he/she is.

Like Meryl to Uma, that is.

Now imagine that you can actually meet your heroes. And it’s not just see them walking in red carpet while we wave our hands to them, hopelessly.

Kryptonite

yin yang

We know what it is.
It is fatale to Superman. But it is also his source of power. Whether because Superman is actually a Kryptonian(1), Krypton’s gravity relative on Earth’s(2), or because any Kryptonian can posses a Godlike power when he/she walks under the yellow sun(3).

The bottom line is, Kryptonite is his source of power and also his cause of pain.

Although we’re not living in Smallville, we do suffer from our own Kryptonite. The strongest manifestation of this is our greatest traits/weakness.

Love

Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: But it ain’t all buttons and charts, little albatross. You know what the first rule of flyin’ is? Well I suppose you do, since you already know what I’m about to say.
River Tam: I do. But I like to hear you say it.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Love. You can know all the math in the ‘Verse, but take a boat in the air you don’t love, she’ll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds.
Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells ya she’s hurtin’ ‘fore she keens. Makes her home.
Serenity

It isn’t just about the buttons and panels to fly a spaceship sometime.
